Where are you suposed to apply eye liner?

iv always heared of different ways of where to apply the eye liner and im not exactly sure howWhere are you suposed to apply eye liner?
I normally apply a pencil kohl eyeliner on the inner rim bit of my lower lid, and then on the skin under it and smudge it with a brush. and sometimes on the upper lid, close to the lashline and blend it with a brush as well for a smokey kind of look. I think you should just play around with it untill you like it! The other answers say it all, except for that you shouldn't be putting it on the inside of the lower lid, touching the eye. This actually makes the liner leak into your eye, and it floats to the back and just kind of stays there. Sounds gross, and it's not very good for the eye of course.
you can apply it on the top lid and/or the bottom lid. if you want to apply it on the top lid line it just above your lash line. on the bottom you can line it inside the lid
