How do I apply eye liner on top of my eye?

I've tried and only succeeded once!!!How do I apply eye liner on top of my eye?
I reccomend a liquid eyeliner for top of eyes. It stays put longer than kohl, which tends to smudge off after time, and is a cleaner sharper line.

When you apply the liquid liner do it with your eye OPEN, not closed. This is because when you put liner onto a closed eye you will always have a space between the line and your lashes.

Get the liquid eyeliner, and get rid of any excess. You want the wand to have as little liquid as possible on it. Then use small light strokes, maybe smudging sideways as you apply if you want to get a softer line. Keep building up until you're happy with the width/darkness of the liner.

If you want to widen your eyes, flick the line upwards when you get to out corners of the lash. How do I apply eye liner on top of my eye?
if your just starting, first use a kohl pencil, not a liquid line- these are easy to mess up and hard to remove when you do.

With the kohl, make sure its warmed- not hot, but warm, of its cold it will hurt and if its cheap ot wont work, lancome do an excellent one, I am sure there are others out there, I just havent tried them yet.

Make sure the pencil is sharp, then close one eye and slighly pull the end of the lashes outwards and upwards.

Draw a line along the lashes first, no flicks, no details, no special thicknesses, just one line on each eyelash line.

Next draw a thicker line from the middle to the end of the lashes, and repeat on the other side.

When you think your done but it looks kind of heavy, get an eye brush- or even a lip brush (without lipstick though!) and gently smudge the eyeliner together, evening it out and getting a smooth line.

For more precision, use a liquid liner brush, checkout which works for you as it will vary from other people: I am a chanel fan but the liquid liner I use is from no.17 as its the only one that works for me. Test out afew see how they work, if a makeup stand will not let you text the liner, dont buy it, its not worth wasting your money.

Once your more practiced with the kohl pencil, the liquid liner thing will get easier, then you can progress onto the pen-liners which are even less forgiving if you dont have a steady hand!

Top brands I have tried are:

Mac, the makeup goes on and stays on- ALL DAY AND NIGHT!!

no.17, Very subtle and gentle, easy to do bit by bit and not make mistakes with.

Lancome, for luxary and a really soft daark kohl pencil

no7, for easy to use and good quality makeup, middle of the road.

chanel, cos it looks excellent in your handbag,

clique, as they always are willing to let you test stuff out, also good if you get irritated by some of the harsher brands

benefit, as they have really big bad mascara and liner! good for heavy eyes and smudging, they will also give you a demo whenever they can.
are you using the liquid or pencil?

liquid is more harder than pencil.

try to learn more using pencil then it can gets easier to use liquid.

make a thin line on your top lid exact above the lash line with pencil. then re-apply it with liquid follows by the line you did.

the key is, either you use pencil or liquid, try to learn more using it, then the more easier way to apply it.

goodluck.
the way that i have found the easiest is to use a ';pen'; product as it is easier to use and keeps a sturdy nib so you get the same definition all along the eye. my fave is Revlon: http://www.cosmetics4less.net/acatalog/i鈥?/a>
Apparently if you pull the corner of your eye to the side then draw the line with the eyeliner, this is supposed to get a nice smooth line..although it does help to have a steady hand!! :o)
This website is great for demonstrations...do a search for applying eye make up...www.videojug.com
put your mirror on a table rest you elbow on the table or something then pull the outer corner of you eye tight so it straight then apply liner slowly and carefully hope that works for you
put your finger on the outter corner of your eye and streach it (with your eye closed like chinese) then it makes it easier to apply it.
Close one eye and hold the push the corner out so that your eyelid is straight and crease-free. gently apply eyeliner.
gently pull one lid outward and draw or paint along the to lashes
close your one eye first and apply on to your eyelids
please make it clear
