Everyone is different. You need to try it several ways to see which look is best for you, and ask a couple of friends. Just try the upper eyelid and not the bottom. Try just the bottom and not the top and then try lining both. If you line above your eyelashes on your lower lid it will look more dramatic and also make your eyes look smaller. If you line right where the eyelashes come out it will look more natural and if you line a little lower that the hair line it will make your eye look bigger. Also, the only person that should be wearing black eyeliner are those with black hair otherwise I would wear dark brown or smoke.
Virtual Makeover. It's free, super easy and fun. You can play with colors and find a look you will love. Then it shows you how to apply your new look. Just click http://marykay.com/mgunther2
you could apply a thin line on your top eyelid right above your eyelashes, and with your finger rub it lightly so the color fades out slightly and it is less harsh

you could also pull down your bottom eye lid and put eyeliner on the little flap thing so its not on the outside of your eye but it still shows
If you pull your bottom lid down, you can put it on that little space right above your eyelashes. Sometimes it comes off, but then it comes off below the eyelashes and its fine. Doesn't matter what other people think anyways, as long as you like how you look.
The idea of eye liner is to make your eyelashes appear thicker. So you want to put the liner on at the very base of your lash line, where your lashes begin. If you are using a liquid liner, dab some of the liner off on a kleenex paper first. Then, very carefully make small dots %26amp; tiny dashes at the base of your lashes and/or in between your lashes. Let that dry. This is so you do not have a painted line on top of your lashes. If you are using a pencil liner, try a lighter shade, a brown or mauve shade, and/or using a finer point. Some of the pencil liners are so soft that they apply easily, but also smudge easily, thus require constant re-application or checks. Just use mascara on your bottom lashes. You can always check your makeup in the ladies room during the day %26amp; fix it with a damp q-tip or two and some dry ones. It takes practice to know what techniques and products work best for you, but you'll get it down in no time! Just remember the old saying, ';less is more.';
